The foxfield bus debacle ..

So, I just got off the phone with US Coachways, the company whose bus we chartered to get us to foxfield.

Their resolution: $100 back and 10% off our next trip with them.

My response: (laughter)

The charge is currently under dispute with my credit card company, but a resolution may take some time. Once it comes through, any refunded amount will be split amongst the passengers.

My apologies for the delay. :(

Good times, bad times, you know i've had my share ...

At long last, a weekend with no rain, no muddy fields, and a sunny day to spend outside. Solid attendance at McGrady's afterwards to boot ..

My thoughts.. if you're just coming out to play kickball or football, and not hanging out afterwards (be it at our sponsor bar, or at someone's house, or watching other games on the fields), you're missing out on at least half the fun of the league. So many teams do come out, and tend to sit by themselves -- which is cool, it's still early in the season and people are all getting to know each other -- but be social!

Really, everyone has the perfect icebreaker .. "how did your game go?" .. we're all a friendly group, no one is going to bite. [that being said, and no offense -- if the Penguins are playing, and I'm watching the game -- don't talk to me. gotta support the team! :)]

All kidding aside, a great weekend, as you can see:

Finally... !

A beautiful day. All games are on of course.

Golf Tourney

Thinking about putting together a little golf tournament for this summer. Pick your own foursome, Saturday afternoon, Best Ball format. I've talked to a handful of people, but I'm not sure how many more golfers we have in the club that would be interested. I suspect there are plenty at various skill levels and this would be pretty informal so all are welcome (men & women, of course). Cost would be equivalent to playing a normal weekend round here in Charlottesville. If this sounds like a good time to you and maybe some of your friends, kindly drop me a line so I can get the wheels in motion. The sooner, the better.

Mid-season party

Starr Hill is generously providing us a couple of kegs for our mid-season party this Saturday out at Pen Park (@ noon). From the RSVPs I've gotten, it looks like a pretty solid turnout, and the weather looks like it'll be good now.

Schedule

The schedule for 5/4 is now correct. I have 16 games left to slot, and am trying to do so in a manner that won't have teams playing a doubleheader 4 hours apart or driving to different fields.

In the event of dirt field rainouts, PLEASE BE SURE TO CHECK THE WEBSITE. *Some* games may be moved onto Rives #2, but some games are currently scheduled there, so times may change. It's a pain in the ass, but I figure it's better than not playing at all.
